The Journey of June 11, 1498
It was very difficult with the iceburgs and very cold weather. The crew complained and refused to sail farther north. So John Cabot had no alternative but to turn south along the coast of Greenland.
Land in Bristol August 6, 1498
John Cabot and his crew found land in Bristol and achieved great fame and glory. He was given a gift of $10. King Henry v11 also granted him a pension of $20 a year.
Final Voyage
When John Cabot arrived back in England, he was given a hero's welcome for finding the land of spices. John was made an admiral and sent back to Japan. This time he sailed with five ships, but instead of finding Asian spices, he found dark forests and horrible rivers.
