MarriageJohn Cabot got married to a girl named Mattea in 1474. Then they started a family. There sons were named Ludovico, Sebastiano, and Ancesty.

Ships out to seaOn May 2, 1497, John Cabot set out on an old ship called the Matthew to find the sea route to China. The ship was filld with mice, roaches, and rats. The Matthew had once been used to trade fish, tar, and wool, so it smelled of all these things.

First VoyageJohn Cabot sailed out of Bristol with his ship, the Matthew, on May 2nd. John landed in the new world, believing that he had landed on the east coast of Asia. Even now we don't know where he landed.
